Teenage Dreamsicle at The Refrigerator
The Refrigerator, an alternative artspace in a small garage located in the Fan, was recently conceived in hopes of showcasing the work of both local and national artists. In a series of one night exhibitions, The Refrigerator hopes to expand the local environment for artmaking, artviewing, and dialogue between and within localities. Not associated with an institution, they are free to explore any discourse, and offer a space to artists and the community that is outside the conventional gallery/museum system. The Refrigerator recently made their debut with a show titled “Teenage Dreamsicle” which included video, illustration, photography, and performance works. The show was aggressive in scope and quality, and featured many VCU students and emerging artists from all over the country.
